H.H. Pope Shenouda III departed to Heaven.
The Departure of His Holiness Pope Shenouda III
H. H. Pope Shenouda III, the Coptic Pope of Alexandria and the See of St. Mark #117, has passed away March 17, 2012 (Baramhat 8, 1728). We bid Him farewell to Heaven with the Saints. We ask the Lord to comfort His pure soul. Condolences to the Church and to everyone who loved Him. We are sure that He is interceding to God on our behalf.
Holy Days and Holy Times by H.H. Pope Shenouda III
Although all life should be holy, God has appointed for us holy days and times. If we are trained to keep these days holy, we will take them as examples for the rest of the days...
Because man perhaps cannot practically be permanently cautious or in steady enthusiasm all the days of his life, God laid stress on certain days. He said in the Book of Leviticus that they are the proclaimed day of the "Holy Convocation" (Lev. 23:1). (Read More.)
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield.
The Glorious Resurrection Feast.
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me." ( Galatians 2:20)
I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, Though he may die, he shall live. (John 11:25)
But the angel answered and said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. (Matthew 28:5-6)
Rejoice in the Spirit.
My Beloved Brethren and Children,
Christ is risen! Indeed He is risen! The glorious feast of the Holy Resurrection is the feast of feasts. Thus, we must rejoice in the spirit, embellish our hearts anew, and adorn the holy and victorious church of God. This is the time to declare with bold and joyful tunes the triumph over the sting of death, the stench of hopelessness, and the malevolent conspiracies of Satan, for the evil one has been conquered and defeated through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ—the King of kings. As believers, we can now say with all conviction and assurance "we look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the coming age" (Orthodox Creed). by H.G.Bishop Youssef (Read More.)

The Lord has given us many counsels and commandments to help us toward salvation. He has even given us a pattern of prayer, instructing us on how we are to pray. He has given us life, and with His accustomed generosity, He has also taught us how to pray. He has made it easy for us to be heard, as we pray to the Father in words taught us by the Son... Let us pray as God our Master has taught us. To ask the Father in words His Son has given us, to let Him hear the words of Christ ringing in His ears, is to make our prayer one of friendship, a family prayer.
