Worthiness by H.H. Pope Shenouda III.
Worthiness
by H.H. Pope Shenouda III
The worthiness of each of us, whether of the Kingdom of Heaven, salvation, communion or even our worthiness of prayer and worthiness of service and priesthood, is a matter that needs to be examined. I will also talk about repentance as a condition for worthiness and about unworthiness as evidence of repentance.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
The Commemoration of the Miracle at Cana of Galilee.
On this day, the church celebrates the commemoration of the miracle that our Lord Jesus Christ performed at Cana of Galilee. It was the first miracle that our Lord Jesus performed after His baptism. He was invited to the wedding with His virgin mother, St. Mary, and also some of His disciples.
When they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, "They have no wine." Jesus said to her, "Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come." His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it."(Read More.)
Baptism: The Very Beginning of Eternal Life.
"Who has given us, unworthy though we are, blessed purification through Holy water, and Divine sanctification through life-giving Chrismation, and who now also has been pleased to bring new life to your servant newly illuminated by water and the Spirit, and granted remission of sins-voluntary and involuntary." (Old Prayer prayed by the priest for the newly baptized) H.G.Bishop Youssef

The Lord has given us many counsels and commandments to help us toward salvation. He has even given us a pattern of prayer, instructing us on how we are to pray. He has given us life, and with His accustomed generosity, He has also taught us how to pray. He has made it easy for us to be heard, as we pray to the Father in words taught us by the Son... Let us pray as God our Master has taught us. To ask the Father in words His Son has given us, to let Him hear the words of Christ ringing in His ears, is to make our prayer one of friendship, a family prayer.
